KNSA 930 AM was founded in 1982 by Henry Ivanoff Sr. to serve the villages of Norton Sound as a public service and to provide information to our listening audience.
KNSA is a public service radio station that provides information to the public through weather forecasts and weather watches and warnings when issued by the National Weather Service. KNSA
also provides public service announcements from BSSD, the City of Unalakleet and other entities in the region who would like to inform the public of of current activities, job openings, and other information that they would like passed to the public.
KNSA also works the City of Unalakleet, Bering Strait School District, Native Village of Unalakleet, Norton Sound Economic Development Corporation, Bering Straits Native Corporation, Unalakleet Native Corporation, Unalakleet Police Dept., Unalakleet Schools, University of Alaska, National Weather Service and the Unalakleet Covenant Church.
Our daily announcements from Unalakleet Schools make parents aware of current activities, announcements from NSEDC about commercial fishing openers gave fishermen notification, and general announcements to the community.
Our programming is directed to our audience in our immediate area which consists of villages in the Norton Sound area.
CPB funding has had a very positive impact on our community and listening audience. We pass information to the public in a timely manner when the need arises. For some people, all they have is radio to receive the information we relay.
